Wilsons History
PRODUCER & DIRECTOR: Robyn Janes. DOP: Dave Kwant. PRODUCTION: Mediafix. POST PRODUCTION: Vision Co
MediaFix brought us on to produce a longer form mini documentary for Wilsons Abel Tasman, following the story of how John and Lynette Wilson established what became one of New Zealand's most iconic family tourism businesses.
The Abel Tasman doesn't give you controlled environments. We worked across multiple locations throughout the park, staying ready for the real moments rather than creating them. Natural light, documentary pace, nimble crew. The drone work gave us the landscape context that ties the personal story to the place. The family loved it and it turns out their customers do too. Knowing the story behind the business changes how people feel about booking with them.
Abel Tasman Documentary Film Production | Tourism Storytelling | Vision Co.
Family tourism businesses have origin stories that no advertising can replicate. Vision Co produces documentary and storytelling films for tourism operators across the Top of the South and the wider South Island. We hold DOC filming permits and CAA drone certification that give us access to national park environments including the Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes. For tourism businesses ready to tell the story behind what they do, this is what it looks like when that story is given proper production values.
